Effective governors' monitoring visits to school

This session helps governors plan and prepare for a focused monitoring visit to their school, and gives advice on how to gather information and evidence they will need in order to monitor effectively. It covers:

  • Understanding how governors’ monitoring visits contribute to school improvement and strategic planning (core functions)
  • Identifying tools and documents essential to the process- making the links between the SEF, SDP and Ofsted Evaluation Schedule
  • Planning and preparing for your visit - examining model policies and appropriate protocols
  • Considering possible questions to ask
  • Evaluating reports of visits
  • Sharing best practice
