Aims

Prevent is part of the statutory safeguarding duty for ALL schools and early years and childcare providers, focusing on safeguarding children from exposure to extremism or harm. The session will cover the risk picture within our borough, vulnerabilities to radicalisation and signs that might indicate there is a concern. You will look at the Southwark referral process and have the opportunity to engage in a few case studies to extend your understanding of how the Prevent Duty is applicable with in early years and education settings.

 

Summary

The Statutory EYFS (2023) 3.7. States: 'Providers must have regard to the government's statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ and to the ‘Prevent duty guidance for England and Wales’.

This short online session is for ALL early years’ practitioners, including registered childminders, early years practitioners and leaders and managers in group based early years settings and childcare practitioners working in wrap-around and holiday childcare provision in ensuring they are complaint in meeting their statutory duty to safeguard children.
