Family Early Help and Youth Justice
As the Assistant Director - Family Early Help & Youth Justice I lead our non-statutory help and support services, and our services that support children to prevent offending and re-offending.
We use a ‘whole family’ approach to support children, to deliver sustainable improvement in family life, with positive outcomes for children and resilience in families to avoid escalation to statutory child protection services. We work closely with schools and other partners to make sure families get the early help they need.
We also hold statutory responsibilities for school attendance and inclusion, and promoting 'attendance is everyone's business' and the delivery of Targeting Support Meetings and a Team Around the School approach. Our Youth Justice Service (YJS) works with partners to prevent offending/re-offending and deliver statutory duties to young offenders and their families. This includes early intervention and prevention with referrals through police or partners. The team provides group work interventions in schools focusing on trauma informed weapons awareness and work with young women.
