Safeguarding and Corporate Parenting
As the Assistant Director - Safeguarding and Corporate Parenting I lead our statutory services with responsibility for safeguarding children and young people identified as in need of help and protection. I also lead our corporate parenting services supporting children in care, our care leavers and the wider services that make sure all our children have the right place to live.
We are responsible for our safeguarding services from the front door for contacts, where partner agencies are co-located and where referrals are screened for the right response; undertaking assessments and providing social work services that ensuring that children who are at risk or in need, are safeguarded by assessing their needs against thresholds to determine the need for a child protection plan, alternative care or a child in need plan, and offering interventions to support and de-escalate concerns.
We are also responsible for our social work support for children in care and care leavers making sure that all our children and young people have excellent plans in place that deliver their health, education, wellbeing, home and care needs, and that they have a successful transition to adulthood and independent living. This includes functios to make sure we have the right places available for our children and young people to live.
