School Partnerships, Standards and Sustainability
As the Assistant Director, School Partnerships, Standards and Sustainability I lead on the school improvement support offer to schools, the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership and school sustainability.
The Southwark School Improvement Advisory Team are committed to providing an excellent service that is responsive to, and highly valued by, Southwark’s education leaders in order to maintain high standards, promote inclusion and close the gap for those who are disadvantaged. Each of our schools, be they nursery, primary, special or secondary, maintained, academy or free school, serves a unique community and the s Southwark School Improvement Advisory Team has an excellent knowledge of each of these. We offer a universal provision for all schools and an enhanced provision for our primary maintained schools. We work closely with other teams in education and across the council, and in particular with EYFS, SEND, governor development, schools HR, Southwark music and the education business alliance.
Our four key priorities are:
-
Ensuring every school in the borough provides a good or excellent standard of education demonstrating a commitment to inclusive practise so all learners are well catered for.
-
Working with schools to reduce attainment gaps for disadvantaged children whilst raising achievement for all.
-
Facilitating school-to-school collaboration in formal and informal partnerships to enhance collective responsibility across the borough.
-
Supporting school sustainability in a climate of falling rolls.
We are also establishing the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership because a partnership would:
- provide a stronger mechanism for enabling schools to support and learn from each other, based on relationships of trust and reciprocity
- provide a basis on which to bring skills, resources and capacity together and a forum for addressing challenges
- give schools a stronger collective voice and greater influence over decision-making on issues affecting children and young people in Southwark
The partnership is being designed to enable multiple ways in which schools can engage. Every school in Southwark is a member of the partnership, because they serve the children and young people of Southwark. The partnership is led by schools, for schools. There is a strategic board, which will focus on driving improvements for children and young people thtough:
-
thematic hubs
-
partnership families
-
problem solving task-forces.
