What are Southwark Climate Action Schools?
Southwark Climate Action Schools are empowered schools in the borough who are working together to help tackle the climate emergency locally.
What do they do?
These schools meet each term to learn more about how they can play an active role in reducing carbon emissions, protecting plants and wildlife and teaching young people about climate change.
Climate Action Schools share their work with each other and learn about new opportunities to support their goals. By becoming a Climate Action School, your school will have access to:
- Resources, support and guidance for climate action
- Direct access to sustainability experts
- Collaborative and engaging workshops
- Support in becoming a Let’s Go Zero School
Who can join?
Any school in Southwark can join – whether a primary, secondary, or further education college.

Working with the Let’s Go Zero Campaign
Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign for teachers, pupils, parents and their schools. Run by the environmental charity Ashden, the programme aims to help schools commit to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 by providing practical support and resources, as well as a space to share best practice amongst schools. Around 1000 schools are already signed up, including schools in Southwark.
Our Climate Action Schools Network will act as a springboard for schools to also sign up to Let’s Go Zero.
