Universal Free School Meals Programme

The Deputy Mayor for Children and Families, Joanne McCartney has written (pdf, 290kb) to thank schools for their commitment to school meals and signposts them to a number of resources to help support them in offering the Universal Free School Meals programme.
- Templates for communicating with families about the Mayor’s expansion of Universal Free School Meals, such as newsletters, emails, text messages, presentations, FAQ sheets and website text.
- Advertising tools such as posters, postcards and sample social media content.
- Guidance to support you to encourage parents to continue to register for the Government’s Free School Meals scheme.
- Slides and recordings of our good practice webinars which showcase best practice examples and practical solutions for how to deliver the additional meals.
The Mayor's office are keen to make sure they are supporting schools as much as possible and will continue to add to their bank of resources and guidance on the hub. Schools are encouraged to get in touch at freeschoolmeals@london.gov.uk if there are any specific resources that would be helpful.
The communication to schools also included a personalised letter from the Mayor of London, addressed directly to families in Southwark, outlining information about universal free school meal provision (pdf, 384kb) Schools are kindly asked to distribute the letter to their families before the end of term.
