Aims

This course is for DSLs and DDSLs in schools and other educational settings. It is not appropriate for ‘private, voluntary and independent (PVI) early years settings'. There are other courses for PVIs provided by Southwark Council's Early Years Quality Improvement Team that can be accessed here.

Before you book on this course, please contact the Schools Safeguarding Coordinator Apo Çağırıcı (apo.cagirici@southwark.gov.uk, 020 7525 2715) or the Safeguarding in Schools Lead Emma Geiringer (emma.geiringer@southwark.gov.uk, 020 75255377 or 07860 354934) in Southwark Council's Safeguarding in Schools Team to discuss and ensure that this is the appropriate training for you to attend. If you book and make payment before contacting Apo or Emma and then it turns out that this is not the appropriate training for you, refunds cannot be issued.

If you need to discuss about attending any DSL/DDSL training, please contact Apo or Emma.

DSLs and DDSLs should undergo training to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to carry out the role. This training should be updated at least every two years. In Southwark, those who are new to the role of DSL and DDSL and those who are new to Southwark initially attend the two-day induction training. After their induction, they are expected to attend the refresher training at least every two years.

This LSCP Level 4 one-day refresher training aims to provide the DSLs and DDSLs the opportunity to reflect on their practice since their induction training and to refresh and update their knowledge and skills in view of the changes in legislation as well as in national and local policies, procedures and practices since their last training.

Booking and payment for this course is through the Southwark Education, Learning & Achievement (SELA) website (https://education.southwark.gov.uk/).

For information about how to book and pay for a training courses on the SELA website, please see this guidance document.
