Aims
Beneath the Behaviours is Southwark's SEND and Inclusion Conference which offers free CPD to all primary schools across the borough.
This conference is the direct result of the collaborative work achieved through Southwark’s Primary Behaviour Strategy. The content of the day has been generated from participating schools and LA representatives. It is also in response to the feedback and requests gained through surveys at Primary Headteacher’s Breakfast Briefings.
The day begins with a keynote speaker delivered by Marie Gentles OBE around Behaviours that challenge and the role of us, as adults. Please refer to the Gentles Guidance website for more information.
All conference attendees then book their own choice of workshops to attend throughout the remainder of the day. There is a plethora of workshops to choose from.
Attendees should choose three sessions relevant to their roles and responsibilities, their skills set, interests, knowledge and experience. Sessions are there to educate, inspire, prompt reflection as well as to provide resources, strategies and techniques when faced with behaviours that challenge.
“It takes a village to raise a child”
This day’s conference is open to all Southwark primary schools. Content is relevant for staff at any level: teachers, support staff, SENDco, Senior Leaders and Headteachers. Timings for the day are 8:30-4:30pm. Schools can book a maximum of 20 free places. Unused/unattended places will be charged to the school.
Summary
Overall ambitions for the day are:
- For attendees to look at behaviours that challenge through a trauma informed lens.
- For attendees to develop a deep(er) understanding of the possible causes and triggers of behaviours that challenge.
- For attendees to gain support identifying the appropriate approaches, strategies and interventions to meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people within our Southwark schools.
- To provide an opportunity to network, build relationships and learn from others.
In order to book onto the conference you are required to:
1. First, book onto the Beneath the Behaviours Southwark SEND Conference by clicking on the booking tab.
2. Second, book onto 3 out of the 12 workshops on offer. (There is a maximum capacity of 25 for each workshop and will be on a first come first serve basis. Each workshop will be an hour long and will run 3 times troughout the day.)
The deadline for booking onto the conference workshops is 29th November 2024, please ensure that you have booked onto the course you would like before this date.
