Prevent training and support for school staff and Designated Safeguarding Leads
Prevent Training is a statutory requirement for all teaching and support staff under the Prevent duty, and is part of Ofsted/ISI requirements.
The Home Office offers three online training packages to help professionals understand more about:
- how to identify and safeguard vulnerable individuals from extremism;
- how extremist ideologies and groups may exploit vulnerable individuals;
- the Prevent strategy and duty and what it means for your school.
Course 1 (Awareness) should be completed by all school staff.
Designated Safeguarding Leads should complete Courses 1 (Awareness) and 2 (Referrals) to further knowledge about how to make an informed and suitable Prevent referral.
Course 3 (Channel) is a more specialised course for those who are invited to attend a Channel panel to support a vulnerable individual.
