Moderation - Autumn 2026

Southwark maintained schools are invited to attend a series of writing moderation meetings during the 2026/27 academic year. These sessions are facilitated by our Assessment Champions, who are Local Authority moderators, and provide a valuable opportunity for colleagues to work alongside teachers from other schools to develop a shared understanding of age-related and greater-depth expectations, moderate pupils' work, and discuss effective practice in writing assessment. Each moderation lead school will host and facilitate sessions for a specific phase.

Teachers are encouraged to attend the moderation meetings relevant to the year groups they teach. Year 1 and Year 2 teachers should attend the Key Stage 1 sessions at Michael Faraday, Year 3 and Year 4 teachers should attend the Lower Key Stage 2 sessions at Rye Oak, and Year 5 and Year 6 teachers should attend the Upper Key Stage 2 sessions at Snowsfields.
