CENMAC Assistive Technology Service

 

About the Service

CENMAC provides specialist assistive technology assessments and advice for children and young people with the most significant and complex barriers to communication, curriculum access, participation and independence.

 

Is CENMAC the Right Service?

Before making a referral, schools and settings should review the Assessment Criteria and Guidance.

Referrals are typically appropriate where:

  • a child or young person has significant physical, communication or access needs;
  • standard provision, accessibility features, hardware and software have already been explored;
  • specialist assistive technology assessment may be required (for example, complex AAC, switch access or eye-gaze technology).

 

Referral Process

  1. Review the Guidance and Assessment Criteria.
  2. Submit Part 1 of the Referral Form to the Local Authority.
  3. If the referral meets Southwark's threshold, it will be progressed to CENMAC for assessment planning- Part 2.
