Cherry Garden Outreach Service
Cherry Garden Outreach Service
Cherry Garden School, Southwark’s specialist primary school for children with SEND and complex learning needs, offers outreach support to schools for children with SEND in Southwark mainstream schools. This service is commissioned by Southwark Council and schools can access it free of charge.
What the support looks like
One of our outreach teachers will come for an initial observation visit in school and talk to the teacher, SENDCO and other staff working with the child. We will then write a Record of Support with recommendations to support the child.
In follow up visits, we can support you practically to implement these. For example: modelling intensive interaction or shared attention strategies, planning with the teacher, or providing a training session for staff, e.g. in regulation or communication strategies.
Criteria for Outreach Support
- Significant/complex learning needs
- Require some specialist input
- Nursery to Year 6 in a mainstream primary school in Southwark (and nursery schools)
- Do not have a diagnosis of Autism (these children can be supported by the Autism Support Team)
- Children do not need an EHCP to access this support
Referral process
- School SENDCO fills in a Request For Support form.
- Parents and carers must sign (written signature) to give their consent, and the SENDCO emails the signed form to outreach@cherrygardenschool.co.uk.
- Cherry Garden reviews the referral and decides how support can be offered.
