Aims
All mainstream schools receiving the Inclusive Mainstream Fund (IMF) must publish an inclusion strategy on their website by 31st December 2026. This practical session walks you through the DfE guidance step by step, so you leave with a clear plan for writing a strategy that meets the requirements, reflects your school's real needs and makes a genuine difference for pupils.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Explain what the DfE expects in a published inclusion strategy and how it links to the IMF conditions of grant
- Use the 7 principles of inclusion to shape and organise your strategy
- Identify the commonly occurring barriers to learning and participation in your cohort, drawing on a wide range of evidence, not just the SEN register
- Plan and cost your activity, using both your IMF allocation and core budget, with clear intended outcomes
- Build in governor scrutiny and annual review so your strategy stays live, not a one-off document
