Aims
The aims of this session are to:
- Outline Southwark SEN’s new annual review and EHCP forms
- Outline changes to Year 5 annual reviews
- Explain the need for a move towards ‘Preparation for Adulthood'
- Highlight ways in which this can be integrated into exisiting curriculums
Summary
In January, Southwark SEN’s new annual review forms (and EHCPs going forward) will focus on ‘Preparation for Adulthood’ from the Year 5 annual review. This will mean that the outcomes and support in secondary and further education are targeted towards developing the skills for young people that allow them to lead fulfilled, successful and happy lives.
Southwark SEN is aware that this is a huge change for our settings and have therefore organised CPD from Linda Jordan of the NDTi (who have completed a lot of research in this area, and whose website provides fantastic advice for everyone working with young people with SEND: https://www.ndti.org.uk/resources/preparing-for-adulthood-all-tools-resources). It is vital that ALL secondary settings send their SENCo to this CPD session (SEND teachers or SENCo assistants are of course also welcome!)
The session will be held on: Wednesday 22nd January, 1pm until 3.45pm. There will be food provided beforehand, from 12.15pm.
Cost: Free (including for academies)
