Southwark SENDCo Practice Training

Aims

• Have an understanding of the underpinning legislation, policies and guidance supporting SEND in Early Year settings
• Be able to use the 'graduated approach' and apply it in your setting
• Recognise the '4 broad areas of need' and the associated difficulties, including the differences between speech, language and interaction and English as a different language
• Identify the areas of need you are more likely to see in your setting
• Consider reasonable adjustments that can be made in your setting to support children's learning and development
• Identify where you could get additional help including from the Southwark Local Offer

Summary

This 3.5 day course will support your setting's SENDCos to gain a better understanding of their role and responsibility.

As part of the training for this course, participants will be expected to apply their learning into practice and to draw up a reflective review through participating in action research.

Practitioners must complete all 3.5 days of the course as follows, in order to receive a certificate. :

7^th October 2024 - 10:30am-3pm

11^th October 2024 - 10:30am- 3pm

14th October 2024 - 10:30am - 3pm

22^nd November 2024 - 10:30am - 1pm
