Governor Induction Programme

Southwark’s new governor induction consists of six modules (five for academies/free schools), covering the three core functions of the governing board and explaining governors' roles and responsibilities for overseeing the school curriculum, schools finance, HR and the provision of education to children with special educational needs and disabilities. Module 6 is available in two options: for maintained schools and as a separate course on finance in academies/free schools, please check the calendar for dates.

The induction programme is offered four times a year: two series of six evenings and two series of three day courses. Apart from modules one and two, which follow in sequence, the remaining modules are pretty much 'stand alone' sessions and governors can mix and match the modules between the series, as convenient.
