Transitions into Reception - Reception Transtion Funding (RFT)

 

The process for children transitioning into Reception in academic year 2026-2027

  • Applications will be completed by the receiving school in Phase 1 in June 2026 for children in receipt of Southwark Tier 2 funding and during Phase 2 in September 2026 for all other children via an online Microsoft form. 
  • The school will be expected to collaborate with the child's early years provider to determine what support is needed and why and to include this detail in their application
  • Schools will receive £3000 for every successful application to support the transition of the child into Reception. This is paid in two instalments of £1500 each term, after eligibility has been confirmed in the Autumn and Spring census. This is in recognition of the costs associated with resourcing, staff training, interventions and adaptations to the environment or curriculum.
  • Applications for children under assessment (EHCNA) will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A funding decision will be taken based on how far along the assessment process the child is and when the EHCP is likely to be in place
  • The deadline for making Phase 1 applications for Reception Transition Funding is 5.00pm on the 8th of July 2026. 
  • The deadline for making Phase 2 applications for Reception Transition Funding is 5.00pm on the 28th of September 2026
