Aims

To provide Managers and DSL’s with a wide range of knowledge and skills to fulfil their statutory duties in safeguarding children.

The programme will run over 3 Full days 

Day 1 - Advanced Child Protection - 13.05.2024

Day 2 - The role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead -20.05.2024

Day 3- Safer Recruitment and Allegations - 03.06.2024

This payment cover all three days and is at a discounted rate to paying for each individually.

Summary

To provide experienced managers and DSL’s the opportunity to come together with their peers to refresh and extend their safeguarding knowledge and practice.

·       Day 1: Will look at the vulnerabilities of children and the factors which  are commonlyfeatured in child abuse and neglect cases. It will also consider the Southwark thresholds to enable you to identify appropriate referral pathways to Social Care or Family Early Help

·       Day 2: Will support DSL's and managers consider this statuatory role and the key areas of responsibility in the context of safeguarding children and the legislation which underpins child protection practice and procedures.

·       Day3: Covers two areas:

  • Safer recruitment: Pre planning, including Job Description, Person Specification and running an approrpriate advert to, candidate selection, record checks and post recruitment.
  • Allegations: Considers what an allegation is, what action to taken when an allegation comes in, the roles of the different agencies that maybe involved including the responsibility of the designated officer (LADO) and how to avoid allegations.
