3.5 of the EYFS, (2023) states, ‘A practitioner must be designated to take lead responsibility for safeguarding children in every setting. Childminders must take the lead responsibility themselves.’
This 1 day training session considers the ways in which you or your setting’s designated lead officer can meet the requirements of this statutory role by:
- Understanding the role of the designated safeguarding lead/officer and the key areas of responsibility
- Identifying and responding to different categories of harm and abuse and managing disclosures in the context of safeguarding children.
- Reviewing the key legislation and guidance affecting your response to concerns about a child's safety or welfare
- Knowing what is likely to happen following a referral to children's social care or other agency and the role the setting has in this multi-agency child protection process
