Dear Colleague,

Digest for “Improving Mental Health & Resilience in Schools IMHARS”, Healthy Schools, Healthy Lives and PSHE & Wellbeing in Education

 

Successes

Firstly, congratulations to all schools that have been successful in achieving their Healthy Schools London accreditations during the past year – across the borough there are now more than 140 accreditations with 26 Golds, with many more to come.

Secondly, great news there are now over 300 Mental Health First Aiders across over 90 schools in Southwark, tremendous achievement and testament to all your wonderful work in “Improving Mental Health & Resilience” in your school  – if your school would like to sign up more staff members, please see the CPD offer below for Sep.

And finally thirdly, a huge “thank you” to our “IMHARS and Healthy Schools Champions” who have been driving forward our IMHARS development work for the benefit of all schools across Southwark – some very exciting developments next term, so watch this space.

New resources by MindEd, incl. self-harm prevention

The DfE has worked with the national provider MindEd to create webinars for whole school training sessions and resources to support your school in promoting wellbeing, resilience and mental health, including topics self-harm prevention, anxiety, MindEd for families, etc, for further info  

 

Mini London Marathon – Sep 21

Last year, over 100,000 children took part and this year we are looking to make Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon in schools even bigger and better. Once you're signed up, children and young people in your school will need to run, jog, walk or wheel 2.6 miles between Monday 27 September and Friday 22 October. ‘One kind word’ announced as theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2021

Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated In England by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and takes place from 15 to 19 November 2021. The week will begin with Odd Socks Day supported by CBBC and CBeebies star Andy Day and his band Andy and the Odd Socks.
