Please do not assume your place is confirmed simply because you have submitted a booking. Payment (or a valid credit note) is required for confirmation.

This half day training is for all early years and childcare practitioners who are new to the profession and is an introduction to safeguarding and child protection. It is suitable for unqualified / volunteer practitioners, those undertaking an apprenticeship and have no DSL responsibility for making safeguarding referrals to other agencies. It introduces Section 3 of the EYFS (2024): The safeguarding and welfare requirements to practitioners and provides an overview of:

  • The four types of child abuse
  • The ‘clues’ to harm or needs in children and their families.
  • The legal, policy and procedural frameworks, which aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children (and their families)
  • Their legal responsibilities in safeguarding children.

Summary

At the end of the course practitioners will know:

  • What constitutes child abuse
  • How to respond to possible abuse
  • Who to speak to if you are concerned a child is being abused
  • Where to go for more information
