Training for mainstream practitioners is offered throughout the school year by Southwark Inclusion & monitoring and the SEND consultants, Cherry Garden special school and the Autism Support Team.

Training support and guidance from special schools
Southwark has an excellent special school sector, providing high-quality education for young people with a wide range of complex learning needs. Special school staff are keen to collaborate with mainstream colleagues to develop teaching, learning and assessment strategies for learners with SEND in all settings.
Additionally, Cherry Garden special primary school for children with severe learning difficulties/profound and multiple learning difficulties offers a bespoke range of training and support activities. Please note Cherry Garden do not support CYP with a diagnosis of ASD.
Cherry Garden up-coming training events for mainstream schools
AST
The Autism Support Team offer outreach support as well as online and in school training sessions on how to work with C/YP with a diganosis of ASD. Schools can also access whole class support for reception classes, to refer a reception class complete the referal form and send to AutismSupportTeam@southwark.gov.uk
TA online drop in sessions are also available the first Thursday of every month - More info and registration

NASEN CPD for SEND
SENCOs have a key role in facilitating the effective professional development opportunities for colleagues. Nasen offer a wealth of resources, webinars and training events to support Senior Leaders, SENCOs, teachers and support staff.
