Understanding and interpreting school data is critical to governors’ ability to hold their school to account and to plan for school improvement. This course examines why data is such a key piece of evidence for governors in their strategic and accountability roles and where it fits in with other evidence. You will have an opportunity to consider:

  • The range of data normally available - ASP, FFT, IDSR, Financial benchmarking, Attendance, Exclusions, Quality of teaching, Compare schools and others.
  • A focus on performance data in normal times (ASP/IDSR and how to use it) and current accountability arrangements for school tests and assessment - an update on SATS, exams and teacher assessment.
  • Why is data going to be important in school recovery plans and what is reasonable to ask for now?
