This course provides an overview of how to prepare to be a panel member and examines the processes, skills and behaviours required of governors and others. It covers:

  • the range of different panels that can be convened
  • the role of HR and the clerk in arranging and supporting the panel hearing
  • how to prepare for a panel – managing information flow
  • the importance of confidentiality and impartiality
  • understanding the decision making context
  • ensuring compliance with the law
  • holding hearings in the virtual world

Target audience: Governors involved in HR panels, including disciplinary, capability, pay, grievance or redundancy
