Thursday 3rd July 2025, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Change of Venue)- Walworth Town Hall Community Space, 155 Walworth Road, London SE17 1RS.
This session is now limited to 60 participants because of the size of the new venue. Although it is still free, you are now requested to book a place via the link Schools Safeguarding Forum (Free)
The Schools Safeguarding Forum aims to keep schools/educational settings up to date with local and national changes and give access to best practice and resources. It is open to all designated and deputy designated safeguarding leads, senior leaders, chairs of governors and/or nominated lead governors for safeguarding in all types of Southwark schools and educational settings.
These important sessions are provided free of charge to all maintained schools, academies, free schools, independent schools and alternative providers. A number of topics is selected for each session and experts in fields from various Social Care and Council departments and partner agencies are invited to share relevant updates and best practice advice. This also provides opportunity to meet and network with DSLs and DDSLs from other schools/settings and senior managers from partner agencies. Each session is designed to keep DSLs and DDSLs and governors updated, aware of the best practice, informed and supported to carry out their vital roles in schools/settings.
Although the agenda for this session is yet to be finalised, it will include:
· Update from Southwark Children Social Care (MASH, Safeguarding and Family Support Team, Family Early Help Service, etc.) and the schools’ role in the services provided by them
· Input from the Quality Assurance Unit especially on the CP conference process and how schools engage with this process
· Input from the Southwark Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) on their work and how schools can become more involved with this
· Update from the Police Safer Schools Service on the recent changes in their Service and the schools’ role in this
- Possible update from Southwark’s Prevent Coordinator on a potential schools project offer.
Further details of the final programme for this session will be shared in due course.
