Achieving a broad and balanced curriculum in special schools

Monday 21 October                         18:00 to 19:30                 virtual

This course examines the role of governors in ensuring the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum in special schools. It provides an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the curriculum and its complexities in the context of a special school, Ofsted’s expectations of the curriculum, challenges posed by different learning needs and practical ways in which curriculum can be adapted and modified to meet those needs. You will also consider questions that governors should be asking of school’s senior leaders and monitoring the progress and achievement. You will gain a better understanding of how to provide supportive accountability and critical friendship.

Target audience: this course is open to all governors, but will be particularly relevant to governors of special schools.
