Equality matters - reviewing your school policy and practice

This session will cover the General and Specific duties of the Equality Act 2010.

The objectives are to:

  • refresh governors’ understanding of the 2010 Equality Act, notably the General and Specific duties for schools
  • be aware of the enhanced focus in the education inspection framework
  • consider how equality objectives will be based on information and evidence, and linked to school improvement priorities
  • further develop the skill to write objectives that are specific and measureable
  • understand what is required when publishing objectives and reporting on progress made towards achieving them.

Target audience: the course is relevant to all governors
